Last Minute Table Galway

Creating a brand and Instagram community for hospitality

An Instagram account to help the restuarants and bars in Galway

In June, 2022, after the Irish Government reopened the hospitality industry, getting a reservation for outdoor and indoor dining was a nightmare. Following a trip to Dublin, an idea was born. With this, Last Minute Table Galway (LMTG) was born.

Last Minute Table Galway - Founded by Cathal Chambers - Building a Brand and Engaging the Community

At it’s peak:

✅ 4,400+ followers

🍽️ Shared 350+ tables

📈 Reached over 12,000 accounts

📍 Over 30k page visits

The idea

Getting a reservation in restuarants and bars was almost impossible. In many cases, people were booking multiple tables and leaving bars and restaurants with empty seats. The idea behind LMTG was to help businesses fill their tables, and to help locals and tourists find tables at the last minute!

Building a Community

Initially, the brand began by reaching out to local businesses in Galway. We let them know how the page would work, and if they would share the page to let people know.

Within a week, we had gained 1,000 followers and the community started to grow.

Our followers began to send in their free tables for others to book. Businesses started to tag LMTG in their story, and the page gained traction.

The community grew to over 4,400 followers, which was a very proud achievement for an Instagram page based in Galway City.

Over the next 6 months, the page began to promote businesses and showcase their food and drinks.

What did we learn?

Over the next 6 months, the need for LMTG petered out. Hospitality reopened, and restrictions were lifted. However, in terms of experience, the page provided some great insights.

The page was a solution to an annoying problem. When you solve these problems for people, they react positively.

Moreover, meeting people and speaking directly with businesses was hugely beneficial.

In terms of social media, we learned the importance of engaging your followers. The more engaging and informative the content, the better the page performed.
